Email2Blog - New Insertion For 2009 Oxford's & Webster's Dictionaries - Badawi

Posted by Ery Rahim

I received this email which says a word badawi would be introduced in Oxford's & Webster's dictionaries. I know pretty much the actual intention of the writer, but if it is going to be included, at least let me tell you what it means.

(Name-calling is not good in any way, and I do not condone it.)

There are plans underway to apply to the Oxford's and Webster's to include a new word for their 2009 dictionary:

badawi [baa-daa-wee] (Transitive verb/Noun/Adjective):
To start something full of promise but end in disappointment, failure and/or disaster.

Eg: 'I'm trusting you to perform this task well; don't do a badawi, ok?'

'Whatever I do, I will always find a way to badawise it.'

France badawied their Euro 2008 campaign. England pre-badawied theirs, while Italy were guilty of over- badawification.
