“From the start, I knew that you would win the Permatang Pauh by-election with bigger majority despite initial claims made by Najib Razak, and BN’s candidate Arif Shah Omar Shah that BN would win with a margin of 500 to 5000 votes. The notion put forward by the duo was simply hard to believe as Malaysian people nowadays have rejected dirty and corrupted politics championed by Barisan Nasional (BN), and their engagement with the government machinery; Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), a private broadcasting corporation; Media Prima Berhad, and last but not least, a daily newspaper; Utusan Malaysia in doing so is absurd. Oh well, I believe Malaysian Judiciary is also manipulated by BN at some levels.
Your landslide majority of 15,671 votes proves that constituents in Permatang Pauh are of the same thinking cap with majority of Malaysians who has rejected BN. Personally my vote will remain with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as long as BN practises dirty politics, and all together, we have more than 40 votes in our family and relatives which they are here to support the PR. Your struggle and victory despite BN’s attempt to manipulate and concocting stories in TV3’s “Buletin Utama” and “Utusan Malaysia” are shared and supported by my younger brothers, and cousins who would be eligible voters in the next 14th General Election. Together, let us bury BN for good. My vote is not a secret; I shall vote for any political party in Pakatan Rakyat – let it be PKR, PAS or DAP.
My new choice of news media, “Malaysiakini”, reported that you said ‘to win the election is to win a defining moment’ and I firmly agreed.”
Ariff Shah Omar Shah in his campaign had repeatedly accused that Anwar Ibrahim is a liar. Do you think people believe it? If they did, their belief would have been converted into votes, and thus Anwar Ibrahim’s vote majority would have been reduced. In an expected turn of events, a reduction of 1, 426 votes in BN’s favour and an increase of 2,126 votes in favour of our truly leader of Malaysian commoners, Anwar Ibrahim, spelt it all. To tell you the truth, people are getting frustrated with personal attacks on Anwar Ibrahim with baseless sodomy accusation. If BN would like to win the heart of the people, they have to engage in more intellectual debates with Anwar Ibrahim. Thus far, in my humble opinion, BN leaders are bunch of kids. To summarise it, let it be the 3rd, or 4th sodomy accusation, we would not believe it.
We believe that BN is now manipulating government resources to make themselves and their cronies rich and famous, and “indestructible” by manipulating rule of laws in this country.
Ariff Shah Omar Shah was also proud of telling constituents that he is after all, “orang Cina bukan Cina (a Chinese, but not truly a Chinese)”. In my humble opinion, he should be ashamed of himself to utter such words. He is one of the elected state assemblymen from UMNO for God’s sake, a party which claims to represent the interests of the Malays. The Malay sentiment against him because of the words is really huge that some of my Malay friends in Permatang Pauh decided to vote against Arif Shah Omar Shah for making that statement even though they are staunch BN supporters. “Takkan hilang Melayu di dunia”, a Malay should always be a Malay even though we speaks for other races too. Be proud of the fact that we are Malay, and try not to speak Chinese in a televised broadcast proudly proclaimed all about us is of Chinese. Well, I believe there is nothing wrong to be a trilingual person but the claim was rather shocking. Personally, I was flabbergasted at first when my friends said they would vote for Anwar Ibrahim considering the fact I would not be able to convince them to vote for any opposition party. Apparently, Arif Shah Omar Shah dug his own grave in the election with a slip of his tongue.
In the other story, I used to like watching the primetime news on TV3. I guess it is not my choice of news media anymore. With lies uttered, and the fact now the tv station is a champion in discrediting opposition figureheads with baseless notions, bad choices of words and clippings, I share the same sentiment with my family and friends that we almost puked each time watching the primetime news on the tv channel. It may be so bad of me to say that, but the fact remains as it is.
Oh well, to summarise the whole Permatang Pauh by-election, Malaysiakini puts it as “early merdeka” for PR, I shall say we already show BN preliminary outcome of the next 13th General Election, at least. “Welcome back Anwar Ibrahim; the champion of the Malaysian commoners.. welcome back Sir.”
